I really enjoyed the first Hobbit precisely because Jackson didn't have to cut it down in the way he would have for a single movie. We get to see every major episode from the book, unlike LOTR which loses so much story detail because of the editing. I DO think he could have trimmed it down to 2 films instead of 3.
