This is exactly how I saw the episode. I also interpreted James Baxter's dancing at the end to reflect the producers, writers, and showrunners' idea of doing what made them feel fulfilled as artists (things like solos storyboards, guest-animated episodes, miniseries, dark backstories, etc.) that some fans might not be

Why not watch both? It's not like they'd air at the same time?

I agree. Sugar, Ward, et al. have said that they're trying to make a show that appeals to everyone: kids, adults, old people, etc. A good show is just a good show.

What I find weird about the Adam Muto-era "Adventure Time" is that it is still really good (and I'm not just saying that 'cuz I'm a super-fan… I realize the show can still have some shit episodes), but because Pen Ward and Rebecca Sugar aren't involved anymore, people just jumped over-board and completely abandoned

I too thought it was reminiscent of "Frederick". That book has such an ambiguous ending though (well, at least for me), so I'm glad this one was straight-up happy.

Hehehehe, butt stuff.

It's fun to read old comments discussing even older comments about the show. I still think it's one of the smartest and funniest shows on. It's aged really well.

"Adventure Time" will always be my favorite, but I love "Gravity Falls" a lot, too. They're both excellent series, but completely different. AT is D'n'D+fart jokes+mythology, and GF is Summer Vacation+X-Files/Twin Peaks Mythology.

Amor fati, man.

"Vegan pancakes, making vegan pancakes,
You take a vegan and ya put 'em in a pancake,
Vegan pancakes, that's what I'm gonna make! Vegan pancakes!"

I know Jesse Moynihan is a vegetarian, and when he was writing for the show, he often stuck in remarks about how cruel humans are to animals (The unseen Meatman from "Hitman" sticks out).

"Red Starved", "Betty", "Princess Day" were non-Sugar episodes. Granted, there have been a lot less of them, but they were there.

"If only because it relied even more heavily on improbable physics and unnecessary objectives. "

The last was 'Princess Day', last summer (unless you count 'Astral Plane', which I wouldn't).

To be honest, I never thought was a very good actor to begin with.

I agree that the Jay and Gloria storyline was kind of lazy, and I wish that they had actually settled on a more emotional ending, with both realizing that the gifts for each other were awesome, rather than having them both dive for the expensive stuff. There was a good emotional beat when Jay presents that bunny to

Pedica me!

I definitely agree! Both this and "Furniture & Meat" felt straight outta the third season.

Have you seen the first Fionna and Cake episode? Lord Monochromicorn features fairly prominently.

I dunno, one thing that keeps me coming back every week is the lingo (especially the lines written by Tom Herpich). Things like, "He's 100 stories of 110% 10-speed terror, like, bam, like, fresh out the grease." That is inspired, man.
