On PBS, a new Big Pacific and the final episode of Great Yellowstone Thaw. These two programs have been wonderful.
Alex tells the family after 8 night. The next block takes place some days later, so it's probably closer to 2 weeks without sleep.

I'd say it's because of the spelling of his first name. It's not as common as others so could easily be written incorrectly.
That thought did occur to me. But when you've been up more than 10 days without any sleep, everything should at least be on table to consider.
