No, you aren't the only one who thought this. I found the score to be over the top campy, but considering how over the top campy the siege on the house was (disposable guards, there just happens to be a window, they just happen to run into Ani even though there was no communication during the siege, etc. etc. etc.),

I would contend what makes the film so exceptional is it doesn't dumb down either of the main characters. Yes, Neil is a criminal but he's also a normal guy in the sense that he asks out a woman he just met in a coffee shop, dates her, treats her well, etc. Eady is also the antithesis of the "crook's girlfriend"
