let's call him a "film write-abouter" then

That attitude is exactly the problem. Writing ABOUT film makes you a film critic or film reviewer. Writing films makes you a film writer.

DO NOT ABANDON SHIP. Especially if it's because of Thea or Laurel. Pretty much everyone agrees they were underwritten and poorly formed characters early on…the last few episodes of season one are amazing, and you don't want to deprive yourself of them…if by the end of the finale you STILL aren't feeling it, by all

according to his imdb page, Ignatiy wrote one film…

You guys need someone smarter to watch and review this film. Someone who understands story structure, science fiction, and has a basic understanding of rudimentary physics…not an angry teenager who's pissed that no one likes his or her sci fi pilot…

arrow to the eye

I'm not really digging the way these last couple of episodes have gone down. Why bother havign Korra go through the struggle from "Korra Alone" and involve Toph in her storyline if she isn't going to gain anything from it? Where's the rest of the new airbenders traveling the world fighting for peace? The quasi

I was impressed at their ability to directly parallel Kuvira to Fire Lord Sozin in her flashback. Something BOTH characters said (in one way or another): "We should share our prosperity with the rest of the world."

So are we believing that Merlyn simply used a body double or something to fake his death, or can hope be held out for the lazarus pit??

you're really jumping through hoops to convince yourself in this review. This was not a good episode of doctor who. At all. All those themes you said it "explored"? It didn't. It mentioned many different ideas then never followed through on any of them. It makes the girl out to be a fairy tale character running

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or if you really don't know that this IS an American show…

Man Oliver, you must have HATED Avatar: The Last Airbender. Including lots of characters and different stories isn't the same thing as momentum. These last two episodes have been an absolute treat! I LOVED the narrow focus this week, really spending time with Ikki, Meelo, and Jinora (so much more than ever before),

you're right, probably a counter-measure then…though she does owe the red lotus, seeing as how zaheer's murder of the earth queen made it a whole lot easier for her…maybe she was with them at some point, then switched sides when she decided she wanted to rule?

It's funny that you begin the recap by saying this episode is more place-setting than anything, but then go on to talk about the myriad plot builders that made this a great episode…the lack of Asami was criminal, but I'm okay if we don't see insane fights every single episode…makes the great action sequences that much

I get that it's a pilot, and pilot's usually have a far bigger budget to work with than the rest of the season's episodes, but still, I was pretty blown away by the VFX (given that it's a CW pilot)…Arrow's always had pretty fantastic fight scenes, but those are almost all practical stunt work, very little green screen

it's God's water! Er, property…

This was a great review, and I love what you said about the episode and the season as a whole, but don't start going back over the previous companions. Clearly, you missed Marta's arc. Which is fine, but she didn't just "slide" into traveling with the doctor. For the first time the Doctor was actually traveling

but, we already learned there AREN'T tons of shows with no fleshed-out female characters…where are you getting this idea that there are "tons" out there? Being feminist and wanting equality is one thing, but finding problems where there aren't any is just lying

go rewatch the show, I think you missed the last few episodes…

well, that's different than your original point…and it disproves the idea that there's a pattern of inequality…what pattern do you speak of? a small handful of incidents among a myriad of successes does not constitute a pattern…they're simply outliers
