Personally, I love this season and its themes. I have a feeling it's going to be looked a lot kinder upon in retrospect, once some time has passed and people can go back and reflect on it.

I'm not seeing that at all. It would definitely be Goldfarb if it were someone we were already introduced to.

I liked the first season, but stopped watching two episodes into the second season. I think that's the quickest I ever gave up on a show after liking the first season. Does it get going/good later on? Is it worthwhile to pick back up?

Oops, replied in the wrong place.

Blah.

Blah.

I get this feeling Gus is going to sacrifice Nacho to the Twins, or Mike is going to have to pull the trigger at some point.

This was easily my least favorite episode. I think the reviewer hits the nail on the head that Franscesca is so poorly developed that I can't really invest in her or their relationship. Also, while I love that we finally get something other than a white male lead as a romantic interest, the whole "hot woman hooks up

I've only gotten through three episodes, so looking forward to reaching that one. The show is very enjoyable, and its mere existence is certainly appreciated, but you're right in saying that it seems to almost be too willing to dull its own edge. And sometimes, frankly, its commentary is a bit broad. That said, I'm

Funny, I was just saying this to my partner. We had a good laugh at the fact he is supposed to be twenty. I told her there is no way that guy is younger than thirty.

This, and the woo'ing Asians with dumplings demonstrate even the most liberal, intersectional attempts to incorporate diversity aren't always going to be perfect. They were equally cringe-inducing.

That was such a great episode.

Currently reading My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Emil Ferris and Monstrosities by Emory Morningstar.

We don't know yet whether he "gets the girl" at the end of this, but I would be very disappointed if it does end up being just another male fantasy fulfilment.

None of them looked even close to 23, but they all are/were certainly conventionally beautiful.

Do you feel the writers have done or have not done a good job in portraying minority characters? As a holder of all privilege, I'm really interested in getting some feedback on this as my own (probably ignorant) view has always been that they were doing a good job before it being revealed they were all white (and I

It seems a lot of people are thinking that Cersei is outmatched by Dany and her army, but my feeling is that her army is going to experience some heavy losses at sea when they encounter Euron. This will make Dorne and Highgarden crucial for her.

Seriously - is there a petition we can sign somewhere to get Black Sails reviews going next season? Rackham and Bonny alone make it one of the best shows out there, and I'm annoyed at the AV Club for not reviewing it.

This. So much this.
