"It's gotten so bad that I'd almost rather skip my weekly board game night to play it"

He deserved better movies before it, but 'Logan' was worth it.

I thought that at first, but honestly a larger-than-life villain wouldn't have made sense for this story. You might say the time was the real villain given the oppressive themes of death and decay.

I don't think either of you are in the minority: I'm sure most people see that dinner scene — an island of human tranquility in a sea of violence — as one of the highlights.

Yes, and it's also why the ending is (deliberately?) depressing: JGL's character clearly hasn't learned a thing and is after the next girl.

The book is actually a really good story of ambition vs talent, and deserves a great director who can expertly chart the friendship of Wiseau and Sistero while also humorously capturing the fiasco of the production.

I really want to be excited for this after loving the book, but I can't pretend I don't think it'll suck. Franco looks way too… normal there.

That rumor about Nolan rewriting massive swathes of the film after seeing Ledger on set is bullshit. Nolan knew how big the Joker's presence should be from the get-go.

Good call. The pilot isn't perfect, but it hinted at a much, much better show to come.

Lost had a great first season, but floundered after that. By the final year I was embarrassed on its behalf (though I did keep watching so I guess that's something?) . I'd also argue Game of Thrones belongs in the 'only one great season' club, though not as egregiously.

Since we know Conway will lie abut literally anything, there is zero gain to having her on at all. Trump fans won't care that she lies, so having her on simply allows her to spread more bullshit at no cost.

It pretty much gave up on the storytelling front when the sheriff infiltrated the lab with no repercussions whatsoever, and the supernatural 'rules' were never properly established so the dramatic stakes were murky. Most characters were pretty much in wheelspin mode for the entire back half of the season, repeating

Mildly surprised at the goodwill that still exists for this show. If a popular series ever actually deserved its backlash, it was this one. Man, that plotting.

I've noticed the BBC has basically stopped reporting on US mass shootings unless the number of victims is close to ten or more.

Yeah, not her finest hour. Weird to think she was briefly a prestige actress.

"Gangs of New York, which has excellent performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis…"

It is. I just imagine a professional photo crew setting up the shoot… for that.

DC is also killing Marvel on the comics front right now, for what it's worth.

I thought the opposite. The mystery of the first 2-3 episodes really draws you in, before the plot abruptly stops giving a shit about the basic mechanics of stoyrtelling. It's striking how quickly it all falls apart, and I felt a bit sorry for some of the actors.

Spud is a surprise, but Renton and Sick Boy got their acts together.
