I agree and disagree. Fusion can definitely be seen through a sexual lens, but I also said it can represent other types of bonds, it's up to the person fusing. We know How much Garnet's fusion means to her so I think it's a bit unfair to say she meant consent generically, the implications are at least there.

I think it's up to the individual. Some fusions we've seen have a sexual connotation but not all, like opal, sugilite, and alexandrite. However the fusion experiments did seem to represent ~that~ especially when Garnet made a point of saying their consent/permission was never given.
