Firstly, 40k isn't that much. It is compared to any minimum wage job,

I was volunteering once as an office assistant at a nonprofit, and once I asked one of the employees to help me with something or other. She said it wasn't in her job description. Unfortunately, I doubt her career has crashed and burned since (she was over 40, so she must have been doing something to hold on to work.)

I think of it as "that Lily Tomlin movie" myself.

Let the kids watch MTV for the other crap.

*nods* I don't know how far ahead Criterion plan their releases, but this would be a great choice, especially if they could produce an edition to release about the same time as the Scorsese movie comes out.

He'll have to fight it out with Jeremy Renner's hairpiece.

I didn't intentionally plan it that way, but I watched "Gangs of New York", Batman (1989), and True Grit (2010) in close succession, so I started getting tired of revenge plots.

I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't know that there was a movie already. Was it distributed in the US at all?

OK, single mother of a baby at Lawrence's age, sure, I can buy that. Single mother of three and successful businesswoman? No. Please recast.

Well, unless they dramatically change the story, there won't be all that many broken necks, so you might as well skip it in advance. This is going to be more like the Neeson of Schindler's List or Gangs of New York, not Taken.

I probably shouldn't be surprised, but I'm still kind of disappointed most of the people here don't seem to have heard of Shusaku Endo. (Otherwise, they wouldn't be talking about this project like it's going to be an action movie.) He's been one of my favorite authors since my teens.

While we're nitpicking:

If that's what you think, you should look more into the history of the term, then. Don't be ignorant.

I'm curious what you think of the version by the songwriter (Anthony Newley - sp?).

Don't know if that was intentional, but your comment comes across as ironic because there was a (made-for-TV) remake of "The Music Man" featuring Broderick.

"Cartoon" and "gritty" are not mutually exclusive. Animation is form, not content.
