The truth is, "Avatar" (in 3D, in theaters) was an extraordinary sensory spectacle that elicited for me a thrilling perceptual state. It defined what modern 3D technology could accomplish and will always remain the film that revolutionized it. Cameron is also rather undeniably a consummate action filmmaker, and

Cecily Strong was totally doing Judy Garland and not her daughter, right? That was so distracting.

So she's complicit in her own objectification and racial marginalization. I feel much better.

No, I hadn't even heard of it until now. I guess the joke makes some sense, then.

Why is Leslie Jones always the object in jokes about racism? It's upsetting.

"Closet Monster" is quite good. Weird story: a week or two after I saw it in theaters in LA, I ended up sitting behind Connor Jessup at an Apichatpong Weerasethakul retrospective. Turns out the actor is a huge fan of Thai Joe.

Two screw-ups don't change the fact it was a really well produced, entertaining, and lively ceremony.

See: "The Wise Kids," "The Way He Looks."

And how successful was that?

The popularity of the soundtrack indicates that others don't agree. In any case, you probably can't remember them because you haven't listened to them again since seeing the film. If you only hear a song once, and especially within a film with many others, it would be pretty difficult to recall it. As true for, say,

I love how random people get to authoritatively decide that something is forgotten. Did you poll the whole Earth?

It's "forgotten" because you forgot it? Sound logic.

Maybe not "daring," per se, but pulling off a contemporary movie musical with completely original music is not exactly commonplace…

Incorrect. Listen to "Audition" again.

"La La Land blurs the line separating its score and its individual songs"…

I highly doubt his taste is so refined.

I didn't realize Stewart was gay, but it still leaves a sour taste, because let's be honest, Totino's would not be advertising to lesbian women, or women in general.

You must need to replace your screen often.

I took it as a joke, especially because it was meant to ruffle the feathers of you know who. If she is really gay, then I didn't know that and maybe I'm behind the curve.

Totino's thing was funny, well-made, but highly dubious. In the end it just becomes another male fantasy commodifying female sexuality (and in this case, faux-lesbianism) to cater to the male consumer gaze. The fact that it's also really an ad this time makes it even more questionable…
