I'm of two opinions on this. I completely agree with you that the original Soul Coughing versions are far superior. The amazing sound of that band was what MADE that band — Doughty's clever lyrics were very enjoyable icing on that cake, but I wouldn't have given them a second listen without that incredible music.

Uncle Grandpa looks like he was drawn by Don Martin. But the rest of it looks dire.
