The twist off beer bottle tops always throw me…I don't remember them being around in the 1980's (when I was in college).

I loved how every single moment in the hard open was shot as Martha realized it would be the last of her life as she knew it…waking up, washing, brushing her teeth, spreading butter on white bread toast, cutting the toast on the diagonal, hefting the jar of peanut butter….and the lack of dialogue throughout was so…
We don't know if she gets to Russia. Gabriel let Phillip and Elizabeth know that she was in Cuba.
Great point. The "ideological officer" is called a political officer; in Russian, the "zampolit".
I loved that show. Will it be back for a 2nd season?
Yeah, when Clark opened the freezer & took a long look at the bottled rat next to the ice, I wondered if he was going to contaminate the ice somehow that he was going to use on Martha's bruise.
She says Martha, on booze and drugs would be the worst drunk dialer ever…that's what I'm afraid of: "loose lips sink ships".
How do we know she hasn't turned and wasn't talking to the FBI & is never going to go home again so she's not killed by Clark/Elizabeth/Gabriel/Centre?
Article in Vulture yesterday, about how HBO has a problem with its drama shows.
Valium with wine…if she's not careful, she could kill herself.
I think it was definitely Elizabeth being territorial. She had been watching him earlier re his concern over Martha, while Clark was in the pay phone, when they were both talking to Gabriel…even her words reassuring Phillip (we'll take care of her) to me sounded a little ominous & could be construed as she and Centre;…
…or a Vice President Nixon….
I thought it seemed really plausible. Don and the other execs are now "the Establishment". The employees are literally saying, "We can't trust you anymore, it's every man for himself, you partners are going to take care of yourselves above all and we'll get screwed" and they're all heading off to their work areas to…
So, if you watch Mad Men, do you know of Tom & Lorenzo's Mad Style? In it, they deconstruct the show frame by frame to reveal the story being told by the fashions. So interesting…it made me view television shows on a whole new level. http://tomandlorenzo.com/ta…
So, I know this isn't a fashion blog, but I just loved how authentic looking Paige's "Hang Ten" t-shirt was (with the footprints walking up the front of it) that she's wearing in the scenes when she and Elizabeth are awakened by the knock on the door, and then in the bathroom, praying afterwards.
Paige, in her telephonic confession/heart-to-heart with Pastor Tim has just set the wheels in motion for a potentially explosive opening next season! Would "The Americans" kill off Paige? It would be easy to do so if over the summer Pastor Tim is investigating/trying to figure out what to do, and they put off action…
Did anyone get the impression that Clark removed his glasses and is removing his toupee because he's about to do some wet work? As soon as the removal process started I thought, he's got to keep the wig & glasses clean because he has to walk out of there after killing Martha, looking like he did when he walked in:…
Actually, the film "The Day After" was made to illustrate the futility of MAD politics. I was in college in 1983 when it came out, and I remember being a little shaken up by it, thinking, "OK folks, let's no blow this". if people are interested in what life was like in the USSR, I would recommend the book "The…
