I feel the same about Jessa and Hannah's relationship. Jessa saying Hannah's her "dearest friend" this episode made me think "..really?" I feel like maybe the real life bond between Jemima and Lena is infiltrating the writing, and they might have forgotten they never really demonstrated why/how *Jessa and Hannah* are

Wait, where was Mara Wilson? :O

I had the same reaction to hearing Lip's age. If he's 22 he would definitely be a senior, right? But I was thinking this whole time he was finishing his sophomore year, because although he's been in college for 3 seasons (I think?), he recently said "last summer I was hauling concrete" or w/e, and wasn't that after

Wow that Nada Surf song is (unintentionally) hilariously similar. Thanks, I didn't want to go through yards of comments and now I get that the whole "90s alt/grunge" thing is what they were going for. So Greg.

"I Could if I Wanted To" reminds me of a very specific song/type of song I feel that I've heard before, but does anyone actually know what that might be? (Or is that just the talent of the songwriters, writing songs that we think we already know?)

This is possibly the cutest thing I've read on this website

That "big! trucks!" back and forth was my personal hell while it lasted, but it still made me laugh (mostly out of relief).

The snot smeared over Tynesha's face instantly made that character one of the best kid-characters I've ever seen, omg

Friggin Stacy still finds a way to be a dick, even from the afterlife

Whatever Dean is doing it is going to be SO depressing. The last time we saw him (season 5) it was already bad, so I can't imagine 10+ years later.. oof it'll be rough. I hope they at least manage to give him someone he loves (finally) more than Rory, otherwise we don't really need to dwell in the misery that is Dean.

Cult members 100% listen to Fleet Foxes

I saw Vanessa Bayer live a couple years ago and she hauled out a few Friends impressions - the Rachel is good, but I love the Monica which is one line: "Not now, Rachel!!"

I was a newborn when this happened, so the whole learning that he wasn't driving the car, and that he was on the brink of suicide has happened for me within the past week or so. Yeah..

Since you still don't bring actual evidence to anything you say, I went looking for some.
- http://variety.com/2015/fil… here's an article listing glaads research about the presence of LGBT characters in films.

Yeah I agree, the issue is more about the roles that win. I just used the numbers as part of my objection to the original commenter who used 8 wins in 16 years as some sort of sign the author's essay and arguments were totally unfounded.

Ok what are the numbers for gay characters in films? And are you counting all films released in a year, indie releases included or just wide release/top grossing films?
I also don't think "favor" is the right word here. 88 v. 12 is not exactly balanced, or favoring for the lower side. Maybe you could say the numbers

You say 8 people have won as if it is a large number - but every year there are 4 acting awards given out, and counting the 2000 awards ceremony up to last year, that's 64 wins and 8 of those are LGBT characters (who, the author specifically points out, are often symbolically tragic figures solely defined by their

Also another No Country For Old Men reference when Mike calls somebody (that bearded Gerhardt accomplice whose name I never bothered to remember) "friendo."
