That is very tough to do with sitcoms. The shows either make the characters too serious, or they go the other direction and make them unrealistically silly—something which Night Court did quite often.

Finally, the show is out on DVD, and I'm on the verge of wrapping up Season 2. The show is just as good as I remember, with some truly classic moments.
