let's keep in mind that he wrote a play for some girl he knew in 7th grade whose fuzzy pen he liked. he revenge fucked that girl and he still needed to write a play abt it. not saying that's inherently creepy, and i liked the play in that moment.  but in retrospect he's always been shrine-level creepy.

hannah's parents are definitely supposed to be reasonable.  their marriage is so great, and we get a couple non-hannah-POV scenes where they show that they genuinely care about her, tho both parents are inclined to express their care according to different levels of financial support.

seems like the unlikability factor of most of the older characters stems from not listening to each other.  (One of the major problems Hannah and Marnie have.) In this episode we saw how the barely-adult thomas john was a continuation of that solipsistic conversational style:  Are those shorteralls? whatever, gotta go!
