That's true. However, I'm pretty sure he's doing nothing of note right now. If they showed him now, when he's probably not doing much, I'm sure most would complain about filler. Game of Thrones is very focused and streamlined, and it doesn't do one-off scenes.

I'm a book reader, and I have absolutely adored the season so far! My favourite yet.

He is a minor character, so who cares? We'll probably see him again next season, if he's needed.

What would you guys say are the 5 best episodes of the series so far? Mine are:
1. The Rains of Castamere (S3E9)
2. Blackwater (S2E9)
3. The Laws of Gods and Men (S4E6)
4. Kissed by Fire (S3E5)
5. Baelor (S1E9)

"My real father died in King's Landing." :'( Theon in S3E4.

No way is this episode, possibly one of the best episodes of the entire series, anything less than an A. Every single scene was top notch- the Ramsay/Reek scene, Drogon, Danaerys, Davos/Stannis, and, of course, Tyrion. Tyrion's speech at the end is the best moment I've ever seen on a screen.

It makes sense. Their is very little communication between the two continents due news taking so long to travel and the events on one side of the world being so relevant on another. That Lord Tywin even mentions her shows that he views her as a potential threat.

Oh, I agree. I meant it was something that, somehow, just flew over the head of the critics, all of whom are saying that Cersei was becoming more sympathetic (although I think their was a little truth to her words when speaking to Oberyn). So I assumed it was a bit subtle for some of the viewing audience.

I think it was a vision of his own death. The half second it occurred for was so quiet and haunting that it left a big impact on me.

Yes, he's done horrible things, and he still does horrible things. But now, it is obvious that he is trying to change. The moment with Cersei served as one last moment of weakness for him, before he realized that she's toxic for him. The greyness makes him on of the most compelling characters in Thrones (which is

She hasn't. She's only taken over Slaver's Bay, which does not even come close to being the entirety of Essos (you will see a city in Essos next episode, so that should give you an idea of just how big it is). Plus, she has wanted that he entire life- no amount of anything else can stop ambition and one in their quest

I agree with the score, one of the best episodes of a season that seems destined to be the best the show has ever done. But your review as a whole misses the mark entirely. How did you even come to that conclusion about Oberyn? :o

It helped evolve Jojen's character (seriously, that vision was my favourite Game of Thrones scene), reunited Ghost with Jon, make the audience more invested in Bran, helped develop Jon into more of a leader, and gave Bran and Jon something to do.

Cersei is actually manipulating Oberyn, Tywin and Margaery (whose father is one of the judges) in her scenes this episode, in the hopes that the three judges vote for her due to her pleasant interactions with them. Don't worry- Cersei was just as manipulative as ever, just very subtle at it this time :D
