And William the Conqueror claims descent from Cerdic, so really at least 96% of all land in England is owned by descendants of the Anglo-Saxons.

The Normans were replaced by the Scots (diplomatically), the Dutch (popular uprising), and then the Germans (diplomatically). But though there is a supposed line of succession from Cerdic it's certainly not accurate to say that the Normans are in control, just like you wouldn't say the Baratheons represent Targaryen

I absolutely don't think this forecloses "Rose is Pink Diamond" theory. If you look at the context of Jasper's rant, she's talking about how Earth poisons and corrupts (in her view) everything it touches. Ruins it. And she's upset Rose did that to her diamond. Not shattered it, not poofed it. *Ruined* it. I feel like

you are dumb and wrong
it's "Padippica"

GOD DAMMIT REBECCA SUGAR SHOW ME THE ENGRAVING OF PINK DIAMOND

Counterpoint: Tilda Swinton.

I love her character arch.

I can't believe the lack of love for the best throwaway gag of the episode, "NEW JERSEY SCIENCE FAIR: What are you, some kinda smart guy?"

Shut up and take my money!

When she gets super mad at Steven in Mirror Gem, in my mind.

I like "Left-Hand Man."

The closest thing I could turn up was Goddamn Bats, which is a video game trope.

Calling it right now: the episode will be called "The Tell-Tale Bart," and the plot will be entirely predictable.

Fallon's comedy has a high quality factor, but of course that just means he peaks way too quickly.

And Pearl's heel turn when Steven convinces her Amethyst really needs wrestling? SELLING IT.

I think the key distinction is that if Pearl is able to convince herself something is for Steven's own good, she can ignore her overprotectiveness. Less comprehensible for me is her inaction during Rose's Scabbard when Steven tries to jump to her and falls.

I have a hard time rewatching most of the Lars episodes because he is both totally unsympathetic and pathetic. Unsympathetic but cool makes for Anti-hero and or Magnificent Bastard; Pathetic but sympathetic makes for Break the Cutie; but both together just makes me cringe. Ronaldo episodes are similar, for similar

If he had stayed in the game long enough to get a music video of "Like a Comet" made he could just make that his ad. On the other hand, there are only like fifteen people in Beach City, so even ending up with one student is a pretty good outcome.

Personally I felt like this was a very successful season opener. The "jump forward in time" mechanic leaves a lot of exposition and establishing necessary and the show managed that without making it obvious. Not seeing Korra wasn't a big downside for me because her absence from the rest of the episode - but obvious
