I agree. But many people here seem to regard her as some deeply evil and irredeemable character, which I cannot understand. Many of her decisions come not from genuine malice, but from a place of ignorance and stupidity born of her privilege. .

It's not that people are equating a healthy relationship with a weak season. But Poussey did not have a strong story, nor was she involved in the main plots in Season 4.
Maria put herself in that position by starting that rival business. Even if Piper didn't rat her out, she was always going to be in danger of being found out and punished for stealing official merchandise and running an illegal business.
Where was all the indignation at the lack of diversity in the writers' room before S4? This is the only show on TV that has given so much screentime to non-white characters. I'd like to know if you (and others) found issues with the stories of the blacks, Latinas and Asians on the show before S4?
"When the show decided to humanize Bayley, it caused Poussey’s death to mirror those of Garner and Brown only in terms of visuals. This exploitative choice allows OITNB to position itself with the Black Lives Matter movement for entertainment, but stops short of assigning actual blame for Poussey’s death. The show…
I completely agree. I thought the whole point of his flashback was to show how he's unpunished for his transgressions because of his white privilege.
I'm not surprised Norma was the only one comforting Soso. Soso has had trouble making friends since she first arrived, and Poussey was both her friend and girlfriend. I wonder if we will see her tailspin into depression next season.
So now it's "weird" that she's keeping her nose out of trouble and helping Alex. If she had done the opposite, she'd probably be called the show's worst character. Piper just can't get a break. Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. She's annoying but not as villainous and hateful as so many people seem to think.…
you don't think Nicky-Morello is as toxic or damaged as Piper-Alex?
As glad as I was to see Poussey happy with Soso, I would rather have seen more Poussey-Taystee. I just couldn't be emotionally invested in the relationship. It came out of nowhere and even at the end I couldn't find real depth in it. I don't need Poussey's character to find romantic love to give her closure. She had…
