There's little rational explanation for something you hate. I don't really like Piano Man because I think of drunk dummies shouting it in bars like it's the greatest thing ever, but that's irrational and I'm starting to come around on it as a better song than I've given it credit.

Well, yes. Let's put it this way. I would categorize my taste in music as perhaps "too broad." When people ask what I like I don't know what to say because it will pigeonhole me in some way, though I do wish at times I could let that happen. I have an extensive list of stuff to check out that's part of a larger, more

True, I have come to believe this as well. Whether on AOL in the 90's or OkCupid today, "I love most anything" or "i love everything except ___ " is an indicator for a casual interest in music. There are, however, people who have a near-obsessive, wide-spanning interest in music. Last night I was listening to a

I definitely dislike certain artists and songs, but it's almost completely irrational. If I sit down and really let something sit with me for a while I will probably come to enjoy it in some manner. The lin between an unwanted earworm and something truly enjoyable is very, very blurry in my experience. There was a

I may come close to that. There are songs and artists I don't like but it's usually because I'm annoyed with the people parading them around or singing them in front of me or whatever.

I've never heard this song before. I like it.

Of course it's pop culture. what else would it be? non-pejoratively.

In response to Erik Adams - it's easy to feel overwhelmed with media in 2014. There's no way to embrace everything. You have to be selective, and sometimes people are vocal about that. Maybe they're annoyed at something that's so commonplace and ubiquitous, so they feel like saying something in protest.

These are all mostly bizarre, irrational thoughts that can easily be countered.

    no

Eh, I like this song and other cheesy ones like it from the same time (Hands to Heaven, etc.) I had a pretty happy childhood and they remind me of that time. Hearing those songs on the radio in the car or going to sleep at night.

My parents had A New Flame. I have fond memories of singing along to that as a kid in my dad's 92 Nissan Maxima. For that I like them.

    Nonsense.

I'm inclined to agree, but when Facebook en masse runs with Buzfeed's "exposes" on such matters it's hard to ignore.

Well, I hate "Fat Bottomed Girls" and I hate fat girls.

Twitter during the Grammys would disagree

    Define "creativity"

These reviews are a perfect example of expending way too much mental energy on a TV show. (A good TV show, and a great pair of episodes.)

I find it annoying when people say "it's not realistic" with regards to something on TV/film, and then later say with regards to another element in the same medium, "it's a TV show/a movie/suspension of disbelief", etc. etc. Make up your mind, dammit.

I like the name drop, I like this, but the two could never be on the same level.
