Well, I'm aware of Pitchfork but I only visit on on occasion, not regularly. Probably 70% of what they review I am not familiar with. It's a spectrum.
I mostly hated it in college because I was more into the Warped Tour-type stuff at the time and only marginally interested in what they covered. With time my tastes have paralleled more closely with theirs but I'm still only familiar with a minority of what they cover.
As an occasional reader of Pitchfork I contest your assertion that it is worthless.
Exactly what I told him, to which he replied that was just "faggoty" punk with mohawks and shit. He also dropped Five Finger Death Punch earlier in the conversation.
Is there any way one could connect Sabbath to punk? Cuz my friend was insisting on this the other night (that Sabbath was somehow instrumental in the development of punk), an argument I find completely absurd but I'd love an intelligent counterargument.
Probably 90-95% of my friends have never heard of The National.
"all mainstream"
What about people who still don't know who they are
What do you say about people that have never heard of Pitchfork
This is a point almost everyone seems to be missing. This study seems to have been conducted with the assumption that everyone knows what Pitchfork is and cares what it reviews.
"don't give a fuck" interchangeable with "never heard of it"
I wager this is a US-centric list. I have no clue if Disclosure is a household name in the UK, but it's not here.
Silly, stupid, tomato, tom-ah-to.
It's because there's this concept called "relativity"
Bowie is hipster
How is dressing up hipster, whether it's asked for by the band or not? It's just kind of silly. Something being silly doesn't make it hipster.
Define hipster
So four things.
