Man, St. Mark's has changed in such a strange way since I used to hang out there as a teenager in the 90s. This great episode was like science fiction: so familiar, yet so alien.

I agree that the illustrations were horrifying, they really were 80% of what scared the shit out of me about these books when I was a kid.

I think it's been reported that Biehn had some substance abuse problems back in the day.

The performances were great, especially Keaton and Norton. I really thought Best Director was going to go to Linklater though. Since they love giving Oscars to movies about actors I sadly am not surprised Birdman won Best Picture.

I went to a taping of this episode in Manhattan a couple of months ago. It took close to four hours for them to wrap, and apparently it was the second night of filming. A lot of it had to do with the live sitcom bits, which are definitely the weakest parts of the show. They edited a lot of those scenes significantly
