It's true it could have been better executed. I think it's partly because it's easier with Ward and Harold because they're obviously both there whereas the monks are just in flasbacks and not even many of them. Re: budget and visuals, I read an Italian review the other day that while appreciating the show argued that a movie would have been a better pick due to exactly that.

I wouldn't be surprised by a change of showrunner though, at least depending on what kind of contract they drew, I mean they do care for the critics and even I objectively see that the dialogue is pretty weak.

I mean from what I've seen by finishing the season there's a pretty good reason to go on actually, it's more like if they want to put up with another year being trashed by the press.
