I think Jake not looking like a murderer might be the point of him though.

Yeah it's like the recast justifies a rewrite. Although in some flashbacks from this episode she does seem to act like the other Vanessa.

Oh and also, I just read somewhere that the mysterious woman who went and talked to Rowan is played by Jeff Perry (Cyrus)'s daughter, Zoe Perry. I just love how all Shonda shows turn into family business at some point.

For all he had done I'd never thought Jake was a piece of shit until he handed his wife the bottle. Like even being about to choke her was less shitty than that.

No he was never dashing. What he was is decent and caring so I'd feel very sorry for him. This show can just be so careless with some of its characters.

I actually can't stand Bash so mine isn't wishful thinking, it's just that I'm begrudgingly ready to have him back. Rizzio seems more likely to me because Mary doesn't know him so he has no reason to sign his letter, anyway you do have a point about James. What gives me to think about James ////// historical spoiler

They're definitely going there with Greer and James. I wish it wasn't at the expenses of poor Castleroy but it is what it is.

I think it's other Bash or Rizzio. I don't see why James wouldn't just tell her in person.

They did use some I think. I remember Jane Seymour's wedding dress appeared in the pilot so there was at least that. But yeah I think they just weren't interested in costumes, they only aimed to do Gossip Girl in another time period.

Costumes in season 1 are particularly bad as in they're not really costumes, just prom dresses. From season 2 forward you start to get more custom made stuff and some are exquisite, you should always expect anachronistic things to pop up every now and then.
Inaccuracy is definitely always there. You have to ponder if

Pinocchio was turned back into a man last year for some reason I can't remember. Probably because Eion Bailey is too hot to not have him on board.

I figured that she was already overwhelmed and Jane's story was the last straw.

While I believe his fear of losing her is sincere and somewhere in his heart he loves Celeste in his own, twisted, wrong, fucked up way, I still think his attitude wasn't honest. He used subtle lies (the shoulder thing) and then basically accused her of wanting to leave him, as that wasn't a result of HIS behaviour. I

Even more than his body structure and general behaviour (starts off kind, gets violent) the shoes really gave him away to me. It's his style. I'll be surprised if it turns out not to be him but I'm also disappointed about already knowing.

I almost felt sorry about him until I thought again. He even lied about grabbing her shoulder, can you believe I thought maybe I misremembered? He's /that/ good at bullshit.

I cried at one point, it was so tense. I feel like I should apologize to Nicole Kidman for having thought she wasn't that good an actress.

This episode was excellent but I feel like it gave out a little too much. I've been suspecting one of Perry's twins was actually Amabella's assaulter since last week (no idea why she would blame Ziggy though) and now there's good reason to believe Perry straight up raped Jane. Isn't it a bit too early to figure stuff

"God has seen worse and survived" is one of my new favourite Catherine quotes.

I see why they did it but he really was an asset for the show.

To be honest with you, Jane ending up with the guy who /wasn't/ the super hot baby daddy is exactly what made the show original to me. That said, I wasn't necessarily against the idea of Jane and Rafael until they made me fall in love with Jane and Michael. The fact that season 3 wrote them weirdly doesn't mean much
