My criticism of the BvS soundtrack has nothing to do with its composition. I think the themes of the soundtrack all work fairly well (the exception being the Batman theme). My problem is that the themes get overused in the film. The Superman theme from Zimmer is terrific the first time. But by the sixth time in two…
Yeah, Randy Newman can really get to me. I can make it precisely eight seconds into the final song from Toy Story 3 ("So Long") before I just break down crying.
I don't think the writers were trying to show Bayley as a good guy who made a mistake, although I can understand how someone might see it that way. I think the writers were trying to showcase the idea that the system is so fucked up that it can make even the best people do horrible things.
I'm really hoping my next door neighbors didn't think there was anything wrong in my apartment.
My response to the Tilda Swinton gag? MARRY ME!
Oh, you mean the desperate, sloppy lip sync where Kennedy just flailed around on stage like a person having a seizure? As opposed to Katya's lip sync that actually built a crescendo to a fantastic jump split at the perfect moment in the song?
Really? I've only heard it in Gears of War. And I really enjoyed the opening shots with the abandoned corridors in the base. Helix doesn't do haunting beauty very often, but I really liked those shots.
No, but it's nice to see it continue. "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?", "Fever", that insane Christmas dinner, and now this. All my favorite moments in the series have to do with the music.
The use of Mad World at the end of the episode provides more evidence that the music supervision really is the best thing about Helix.
Between the delightfully weird Thanksgiving dinner, the wonderfully predictable yet still terrifying arm hacking, the disturbing drowning in cryogenic fluid, and the potentially inspired connection of the virus' attempt to cure cancer and Sarah's tumor, this was easily my favorite episode thus far.
I loved the creepy weird atmosphere of both episodes. The production design, the feelings of claustrophobia, the weird 60's music. The "scares" did lose their impact after a while, but I thought the final scene was actually the best of the whole thing. Creepy, unsettling, disgusting, and I felt like it was made…
