That is exactly what this show did. When the show started Hannah and Jessa were dear friends. That hasn't fundamentally changed until this season.

No, I am saying that is where the perception of what she did could come from. Jessa herself called it "stealing a friend's boyfriend," or words to that effect, and said that it violated her principles.

Maybe when her mom said that about the girl being hit by a car and wanting to confirm that her mom's relationship came back and her mom dismissing it made her realize that no matter what happens she will probably never be with Adam again so she should wish them well and let herself move on.
