I wondered this too. I believe the aggrieved party here that is being hurt by google are other (European?) comparison shopping websites. Which, seems like an awfully small segment of the internet population to be charging over 2B.
An Asian manufacturer could take the idea for this and start selling it in about 5 seconds. There is nothing proprietary that they can patent.
