Yes the acting may not be the best, because they aren't real actors. That, I can understand.

Honestly, that is how most immigrant parents act. Its the culture and the language barrier that makes it seem really weird….but if they were more "real" or "warm" or "emotionally supportive" it wouldn't be realistic.
