To your awesome summary I would just add that Ramsay is shown to be pretty horrible prior to his sack of Winterfell and torture of Theon.  Back when he is still Ramsey Snow, and Bran is trying to be the Lord of Winterfell for Robb, a wealthy widow of a Stark bannerman (perhaps adjoining Dreadfort?  Can't quite recall)…

true that.  And it makes sense you'd be thinking of her, given poor Theon's situation.  (Yeah, 2 years ago I never thought I'd be typing "poor Theon")
