I can understand that — and the enjoyment of the movie is really paramount on your ability to live in the moment without questioning the reality of it. A lot of classic horror movies are pure animalistic id; you can easily relax and think about why Mike Myers, Freddie, or Chucky are completely ridiculous concepts —

Agreed! It was definitely filled with tropes — but they really nailed those tropes.

Pan's Labyrinth is absolutely horror; it's fantasy too, but that doesn't disqualify it.

The simplicity of It Follows as a throw back to the more mysterious "in the moment" horror of the '80s (similar to the original Halloween) was so refreshing. Really glad it made the list despite probably being the least known here.
