Apologies if this has been mentioned yet, but read an interesting interpretation on another thread that this season is following the "nine circles of hell". Hence Don reading Dante's Inferno in Hawaii. The nine circles being:
First Circle (Limbo) - Episode 1-2, Hawaii 
Second Circle (Lust) - This episode
Third Circle…
