There is no amount of unlayering that can account for a heavy figure. Jennifer Grey was lithe. Breslin is thick around the middle, and you can even see her arms flapping when she does her runs. When watching her during that movie, I felt kind of sorry for her.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but based on the stills I've seen of the actors, what were they thinking??? There's of course the inevitable question of, why fix something that is already perfect, but since remakes are all the rage in Hollywood these days I'll give that one a pass.
