This is what I have always thought. And it's really kind of sweet, in a weird way.

YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR
Good lord, don't leave us in suspense!
I own this book. It's… Mildly disappointing.
That's an interesting point, but the gimmicky/formulaic aspect isn't what gets me… I don't think there is anything wrong or reductive about literary risk (or most fetishes, for that matter).
Did someone say new Steven Universe episodes?
Seconded. I'm glad fellow AVClubbers got me to stick with it through the first dozen or so episodes. Not that they are bad - they are fine - but wow. Once the show starts rolling, it gets to levels of complex characters, emotionally powerful payoffs, and dark, unsettling worldbuilding that can only be compared with Gra…
All I wanna do is see you turn into a giant woman,
I'm going to assume that's a Haldeman reference.
Agreed.
A memoir where someone comes to terms with their spanking fetish through imaginary conversations with Shakespeare characters. This sounds like something that would be produced by a fictional MFA student in some kind of biting parody of the modern creative writing scene. I could see the professor in Dear Committee…
Yeah, the loudly baying hounds are a pretty good indication of something worth investigating.
I don't think the distinction between empathy and sympathy are significant enough to ignore the larger point I was trying to make. It's not impossible to imagine that there are people who are special to Ramsay (in his own psychopathic way), and Sansa and Theon just killed one of them. This is a scene about changing…
I don't think it was supposed to make Ramsay sympathetic… I mean, he fed her body to the dogs. I think it was more showing that he now has some cause for deep anger toward Sansa and Theon, who he previously just thought of as playthings.
So I went to the original source for this article to see if they reported the title as The Beautiful and Damned or The Beautiful and The Damned, and I ran across this phrase: "In addition to Johansson’s commitments to the Avengers – which include a Black Widow solo spinoff movie – she is also…"
Have you been reading my dream journal again?
So they are naming it something close to, but not quite the title of a book that Zelda didn't write, and which they are not adapting.
Huh, you're right. Damn, I just had one of those Berenstein/Berenstain Bears moments… I always thought there was a second "the" in there, and Google autocompletes it with "the damned" when you type "the beautiful and."
Thanks for that, capitalism!
I agree. The big Atari logo right in the middle of Blade Runner never fails to make me giggle a little.
