Yes it is but I don't even need to lean on it at all to tell you Ghostbusters is bigger. References in shows and films, quotability, merchandise and just general public awareness…I would bet my grandmother that it's bigger than the other two. As for why I would be pissed off at the new Robocop, I just generally

I think they were being sarcastic.

But it's a strong indicator. You really want to tell me Total Recall or RoboCop are just as big as Ghostbusters? Go out on the street and ask people and you'll find out it's not even close. That said, I was just as pissed off about the Robocop reboot as I was about Ghostbusters, even if the not as many other people

ok, but that still doesn't really undermine the argument that Ghostbusters is bigger. Ghostbusters' box office was like 295 million…Total Recall was 260 and Robocop 50.

dissipated when it was stalled…as it should be.

Why is complaining about dumb male characters not valid?

Robocop and Total Recall's place in pop culture pales in comparison to that of Ghostbusters. The former are R-rated cult favourites and the latter is a landmark 80s comedy that is embraced by many and transcends generations. I see it as the reboot straw that broke the camel's back.

If a certain community can say "this is ours and don't you dare try and take it from us" why shouldn't others be able to do the same? If you want cultural interchange, it should go both ways, or not at all.

Can you back up that claim? I've never seen anyone complain about completely new minority characters, and I mean starting from scratch new, not a new character taking up an iconic mantle.

Yes, let's always go for the safe, easy thing, because apparently that's arleady what this era of commercial storytelling will be known for, se we might as well get on board.

I think George Takei is in a better position to judge Gene Roddenberry than any of us.

Looks like there's still reason to be found here. clap clap clap.

You may be overthinking it. I think what Takei means is that gay characters should be original and stand on their own, and converting a previously straight character gay is a shallow and lazy idea of progressivism.

I don't know anything about that. I just see him as an agitator who provokes some people into showing their true colours. It's hard for me to take his support for Trump very seriously.

By all means, fight the bigots at the other end of the spectrum, but us "fence sitters" are happy watching you lunatics (hopefully) finish each other off. The view is great from up here.

It's a blessing that you'll probably never be able to control something beyond the interface in front of you.

Look up the definition of bigotry.

Yes, Milo Yiannopoulos jumps every time he looks at himself in the mirror.

ahh ok. Well I'm not much into sports so I have no opinion there :P

I assume you're talking about endorsements and the like? it's probably because endorsing products isn't really an athlete's profession. Getting paid to sell doritos and getting paid to star in the latest cash grab are two different things, the latter is still your career.
