I think the illogic is useful to them. That way anyone pointing out the contradictions in conservative beliefs can be outed as someone who "doesn't get it," or isn't a "true believer," and is therefore exorcised.

Isn't that basically what Venture Bros. is?

I could not get over how bad this movie looked, nor how aggressively generic the title is. I mean, "Rock Dog"? That sounds like one of the gag posters 30 Rock would have in the background.

No. When he doesn't make his lies more palatable, it's part of an expression of power. The message is: "Yeah, I'm obviously lying to you. What the fuck are you going to do about it?"

I used to run home every day after school to watch the original show, and I still remember a lot about it. Which is how I can tell you this movie is going to be garbage.

To me the Jungle Book justified itself by being much more epic in scope than the original. The original 60's version just doesn't capture the grandeur of the jungle or the animals—I could even have seen them rebooting it with the 2D animation of the 90's era Disney. But it's hard to get much more epic than the

Casting James Earl Jones to reprise his role just makes this new Lion King feel less essential than ever. With Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney started making it's rides into movies. Now, re-updating all their classics without changing anything about them, it feels like Disney is making their movies into rides.

At some point don't you have to ask "What's the point?" Like, if they're not even bringing in new actors to put a new spin on the characters, isn't this basically the exact same movie with fresher graphics? (And of course, I mean what's the point other than $$$.)

This exact sentiment makes me think backlash is going to hit La La land hard. All my friends in Austin/The Northwest are already bemoaning its success.

Wow. This is like something out of a Pynchon novel, like V meets Bleeding Edge, if V had turned out to be an incredibly sad sack of shit instead of a sexy spy lady.

It's not an accident, it's a display of power. Cronyism sends the message that loyalty is most important, not ability or experience.

They remembered "Oh yeah, we actually never gave a shit about that! POWER!"

If there's one thing this election has done, it's reveal the Republicans as Orwell's boot that wants to stomp a human face for eternity. They have abandoned every singe thing they ever pretended to care about, and now can't pretend to be about anything other than power for power's sake.

DOOOOOOHOHOHOHO

I was talking with an otherwise intelligent, right leaning friend about fake news.

Ah yes, THAT was the problem. I knew there was some way in which this was all millennial's fault.

But also, he'd have to be a pretty massive douche to start rivaling the people on the other side of this one.

Keep this up. Next week I want Portugal Update: Week 4: It has been a week since I was last in Portugal.

Problem Child: Leslie Jones

I agree with Danette that the idea of two guys debating feminism is an uncomfortable picture. However, I'm also a little wary of the standard internet snark that men shouldn't have anything to say about feminism. Certainly, men should not control the conversation on feminism, and, due to male privilege, that can
