Donald Trump actually has a fairly decent pick if he could appoint somebody.
Luckily a lot of them are too stupid to realize pushing this issue far longer than it needs to be would be on the level of the Clinton impeachment or shutting down the government.
Republicans know they can't fight this one. McConnell might be really obnoxious, but, he knows it's political suicide to filibuster an appointment.

He wrapped himself up tightly in the Tea Party anti Obama blanket and his supporters just ate every second of it up. They don't care about how his face looks, because he's one of them. Same thing with Mitch McConnell and his turtle face.
