Considering that many of the bands from that era I still listen to (Foo Fighters for example) I don't see why not. It shapes what you listen to later in life, and I still listen to rock and rap both from that era and today.

Throwing Copper was excellent, but comparing the two is kinda silly, they are completely different types of acts.
Well it's completely apparent that the writers were not the right age for this music when it came out. In 97 I was 14 and pretty much everything you hate in these two weeks is what shaped and defined my teen taste in music.
Really? Mel G in Expendables III? I actually loved him in that movie. He hammed it up well.
