A lot of the hate for Death Magnetic seemed to come retroactively, after Lulu. It seemed to largely be considered to be "better than expected" until then, when backlash hit it. I like DM a lot and this one is perhaps a little better, since it isn't quite as contrived as DM, with it's attempts to evoke the track

Best accidental euphemism ever. I'm keeping it too.

I meant the concept, not the words. Usually people aren't saying anything shocking or controversial, they're just trend whoring.

You know, the first movie turned out a lot better than I expected, given the source material (the original comic is…kind of awful, actually) but that was mainly due to Alex Proyas. Was anyone really wanting a reboot?

Well we do have the series in 2017, and honestly, as much as I love Moffat, I think six series are more than enough. It just feels like what the BBC wants is to take it back to the Davies days, forgetting that the kind of ratings it drew with Tennant likely aren't ever happening again given how people watch TV now. I

Well it's by Hickman, so it kind of goes without saying that it's good.

Somehow it's singularly appropriate that despite taking the original concept in so many amazing and odd directions, Prophet wound up being just like an original Image book and ended with delays. It's almost cosmically appropriate.

It's like, between Chibnall being named showrunner and rumors like this, the BBC is trying to make me stop watching Doctor Who.

Just wanted to say, I am not interested in playing James Bond.

How wide a window does he fucking need? He's been covering himself in the alt-right's worst sides for almost two years, and all he's been doing since getting elected is bringing in alt right racists and nationalists? What the fuck does he need, a ten year window before we can go "ya know, this guy associates with

Oh bullshit, Stewart.

Yeah, if you were looking for precisely the WRONG target audience, you guys found it.

What was called Alternative in the 90s was called "college rock" in the 80s, though it was a bit more sprawling and ill defined back in the 80s. By the 90s it was kind of funny that something being pushed so hard by the labels was called alternative.

Am I the only one who fucking hates "hot take"?

Die Hard is perfect. It's not the best action movie of the 80s, it's the best action movie ever. It's so damn smart, with so many tiny, wonderful details like the bad guy who fails to fight the urge to steal a candy bar just before he starts shooting at cops. It's an endless series of little details adding up to

I submit as a huge Steinman fan that "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young" is the best song he ever wrote.

Belated comment: I saw The Hidden in theaters and it was one of the best action movies I've ever seen. It barely stops to take a breath, just one set piece after another. Amazing movie.

It was actually called 58 Minutes, it came out in 1987, and it was dreadful. It was basically a supercop action movie in novel form, which made it becoming a Die Hard movie kind of fun.

You've got a CROOKED HILLARY bumper sticker on your car, don't you?

I remain amazed that people are shocked to discover that the DNC was worried about backing a person who is not a member of the Democratic party.
