Seriously! I just wish over and over that season 8 had never happened, that we'd wrapped up Clara one season earlier (but with the season 9 episodes!), and gotten 2 seasons of this dream team.

Hmm, sad. Also, Fear Her was my least favorite episode of that season. This explains how it ended up getting made.
I love his writing! Such humor!
I'm hoping Bill stays, because I like her, but they need to do some screen tests and consider whatever personality it is that 13 is going to have. If they feel they can't meld the current character with the new Doctor, perhaps they will have to let her go. Because truly, Clara and 12 were a disaster together for the…
It would be great to have a season with her as the companion/co-equal Timelord! It would be so interesting to have an entire season in which the Doctor isn't the smartest person in the room, and in which he IS the most "human" person in the room. Michelle Gomez is fantastic!
Haha, I'm not going to use "Le Chib". I can tell you that!
I liked the sex talk scene, not for any type of historical accuracy (I don't hold Doctor Who to that standard. Was there even a Prime Minister Harriet Jones?), but for what the reviewer said. Sexual morality is simply an artifact of the culture you're living in at the time. Unlike murder or unprovoked assault,…
I said a similar thing in my comment about the Empress of Mars, that something about this season is making these late standalone episodes feel like wasting time, though of course Doctor Who does standalone episodes all the time.
I enjoyed this one more than the previous week's. The guest characters were less annoying and seemed like a bunch of nice kids. I think it helped that none of them felt motivated by money or power, just doing what their respective cultures require of them.
I have a lot of success not being spoiled, just avoiding DW news and not reading a comment past a couple words if it seems to be going into spoilery territory.
I'm a recent import from tv.com, which used to be really great for the most part until it was ruined by TV Guide this past year. Decimated to suit the lowest common denominator. The thing I loved about tv.com was the high level of discourse compared to other sites I had seen. Then I came over here, and some…
I think that was my biggest quibble with the episode. Just knowing that it was one of Capaldi's last made me want more from it.
Yep, that was a very interesting moment. Finally admitted to being pretty damned tuned in to how warriors/soldiers think.
Though of course they were in the Tardis, so they could have left right away. . . or a year later. . . and still arrived at that moment on Mars.
Maybe he already experienced whatever it is that is (apparently slowly) killing him, and only she knows about it?
Bad Wolf was more 9. Though the final evidence of the Stolen Planets was Bad Wolf!
I invite you to examine Martha as a companion again, trying to ignore her pining for the Doctor. She was really great, other than that. Maybe they could have written it to be a little more subtle, like just being a more one-sided friendship, rather than unrequited love, but they went with that to really drive home…
I keep trying to pick a favorite Doctor, when others start proclaiming theirs, and I just can't do it. I agree with you that the RTD seasons are way more fun and rewatchable, so I tend to lean toward Tennant, because he did so many more episodes than Eccleston. And his cheeky grin is so cheeky, while he's pretty…
Agreed. Extremis was too good to set up such a weak end.
Wow, it really does feel like he's been spinning his wheels a bit ever since then. I just realized how many more seasons he's done now than RTD. . . I can't believe it. Feels like far less has been "accomplished". Looking forward to a change of pace, though I wish Capaldi could stay one more season. I would so…
