I agree that it's a Renaissance pope. I tried to make out others, but my in depth knowledge of Papal history more or less begins and ends with the sixteenth century.

I don't think the Pope speaking was Peter. Each Pope had a distinctive vestment style indicative of an age. The plainly dressed one might be Peter or else a very early Bishop of Rome. Strangely, it looks a bit like Julius II (in fact, check out the painting by Raphael, the vestments are almost exactly the same as that

Yea I think the visions might have driven him mad, and he didn't really know how to respond. If I recall his insanity has a pretty intricately detailed story though, and a lot of it is plain old paranoid. But the Targaryens have a history of dragon dreams and other magic shit (like Dany).

I don't know how many people caught a brief glimpse of Aerys in Bran's flashback thing? The captions confirmed, and he was saying "burn them all" I wounder if this is shown because of its relevance to the Targaryens / Dany in general or specifically the tower of joy moments also included in the flashbacks. My ideas is
