Indeed.
Indeed.
JFK is anti-historical bullshit as far as the story goes, but Goddamn is it a fantastically made film in terms of all of the acting and the whole world around them. Costner himself is brilliant. Even moments such as the "dying king" speech that scream kitsch come across so well.
Ironically, his successors apparently operated more on a Fortune 500 esque level and did a pretty damn good job of expanding things, at least that's what I've read.
So many of the individual scenes in there have beautiful cinematography. The meeting in the church? The closeness of the actors' hands there, really, it's something like the famous picture of God and Adam at creation. And that's just one example.
Reminder that Sasse thinks about LGBT people marrying that "The reason we want a government is to protect us from certain kinds of evils" aka LGBT people.
In fairness, the Smiths is legitimately one of the most influential rock bands of the past four decades.
I feel like the term "far left" naturally fits when it comes to somebody that's 100% or something like that beyond even just being "progressive". And it doesn't fit applied to somebody who's just generically liberal on 2/3 of things and not on 1/3 of things.
What can I say, I love the Back to the Future series.
I don't think using the n-word was a thing with him. That's not saying that this is some big line cross or whatever. I just think he's avoided it in his act before.
It's perfectly rational, though, to have a general filter against using the n-word since otherwise there'd be far right butt-heads spouting it out all over the place in random articles— like, say, about some black actor in a comic book movie or whatever the hell is in a standard newswire.
I'm not even a progressive in the first place, so I'm afraid that I lack the credibility to run that, alas.
>she's blaming everyone but herself
In fairness, there's a difference between "I don't care", "I care, and I don't think he should be fired", "I care, but I'm not sure what the hell his career is", and "I demand that he's axed". Those are distinct things.
Maher's not a Klansman-esque racist. He's simply a dude who said something fucking stupid. That's what seems true to me.
Saying to somebody that they should just get a job instead of being angry is a pretty stupid response.
Progressive isn't the same as being far left. Maher is somebody who's more centrist and even somewhat neo-con like when it comes to his views on foreign policy. His social issue views are what he spends most of his time about, so that's what gives him the justified reputation of being a solid liberal. But he's not…
The guy is pretty fucking bad on a lot of issues.
I'm basically with:
I seriously, legitimately remember seeing a thing on the local TV news about the Randy Marsh "naggers, no…" episode when it came out.
Perhaps. Very possible.
