I don't really disagree with you anything you said here, although I don't think Dunham is saying that the industry should not comment on her, as if they don't have that right. But I think implicit in her comments is the troubling reality that the porn industry will inevitably appropriateĀ  something of ostensibleā€¦

I don't think this is really fair. Just because Dunham creates something and puts its out in the world for all of us to consume does not mean she is not entitled to this (in my opinion, completely valid) reaction when it is appropriated by a company as skeevy and misogynistic as Hustler.

It's actually interesting that considering just how much Jewish men have dominated American comedy historically, the late night talk show has remained a gentiles-only club. I wonder why that is.
