"I mean, I like the guy, but cursing with righteous anger is not much of a contribution to political argument, no matter how valid your position (and even if your milieu is comedy). And jeez, talk about preaching to the choir."

They might give an update at TCAs in January.

Nightly Show skewed old, had no social media presence, no viral videos, wasn't a great retainer from The Daily Show, and got 0 Emmy nominations this past year, not to mention the fact that Wilmore bombed the Correspondents Dinner. If they picked up the contract, they would have to carry it another year, which wouldn't

Show a little contrition? Don't be a defensive dick? Read literally any interview he's done during the press cycle for this movie and you'll see how not to handle this type of scandal.

But 12 Years a Slave did very well and it didn't lead to much. It led to another slavery movie being propped up by the white guilt of film critics. That's not much in the way of progress.

    Play hooky.

Yeah, that's why I can't get behind this notion that people should see this movie because it's Important. It's yet another slavery movie; shouldn't we be more upset that this is the only type of "black" movie that can generate Oscar buzz anymore?

    The best rapists go method.

What show centered on female characters actively objectifies them?

Plus it's from CBS Studios, which increases its chances. If it were produced by WB (which is behind the comic shows, iZombie, The 100, etc.), it'd be DOA, but its peers are Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Reign. Reign is probably ending this summer and Jane is guaranteed a fourth season, so CW will have

    iZombie was also getting 0.5s after 1.5s and a 1.6, so…

We don't really know exactly how many people watched, BUT

Both. Not enough people clicked on Transparent reviews and because of that, AV Club didn't generate enough money for coverage to make economic sense.

Nor does he have a good television show.

First season is funny. Second season takes itself too seriously.

You'd think a network with a really young digital age (their average linear viewer is 43, I think, and digital is 23) would think to have a great web player. But it's horrifically bad, which is why the Hulu deal sucks (for me). I don't have a Roku or the app.

I've seen promos for Conviction picking up and in the one I've seen the most, it touts being from executive producers of Criminal Minds.

The way his character is introduced in the Younger pilot might be the hottest character introduction I've seen before. (Bar Raul Castillo in Looking.) He keeps his clothes on, but his whole ~vibe is super sexy.

Well, this was the best rated new show of premiere week and it had amazing DVR numbers, so enough people are watching to make the early pickup understandable. I figured they'd at least wait for the L+SD numbers of episode two, though.

Parenthood was incredibly saccharine and melodramatic, though. It didn't meet a whispery indie ballad it couldn't shoehorn into a "heartwarming" moment and the cancer arc in season four was the most emotionally manipulative thing I've ever seen on TV.
