This comment is weird: arrogant and self-deprecating at the same time.
You seem to imply you have a greater appreciation of real comedy (whatever that is supposed to mean) than they do and yet seem to be annoyed by the fact that they know things you don't.
Amusing.

That criticism of the show has always baffled me, there's a reason this show is actually pretty popular among scientists.
Among plenty of examples: there's a species of bee named after the show because the biologists who discovered it are huge fans.

While this show more often than not laughs at geek culture than laughs with it, it has never (or very rarely) failed in presenting the guys' scientific side with the upmost respect.
