Yeah, I definitely think Darnielle at no point in the writing of this song viewed this as a geek revenge fantasy, and the fact that you read it that way says a lot about you. That's kind of a mean and terrible approach to this song.

I have a feeling this mixtape was specifically themed around 90's hip-hop. Modern hiphop is great, but I don't think he's going for that with the playlist.

They did share the same basic structure — framing story with flashbacks that gave them context. But fair enough.
