I'm glad someone else drew the comparison to 25th Hour.

That's why I'm thinking the Academy might pivot back to Affleck. Nobody really cares about Fences that much, and Denzel doesn't have a narrative on par with Viola Davis's "we fucked up last time, let's finally give her one" one.
Having just rewatched The Neon Demon with commentary, I can say with certainty that Natasha Braier wuz robbed. Hell, not only did she make a gorgeous-looking movie on a very tight budget, she even used her own forehead grease to get some soft-focus shots!
AND it's a hoax. Thank fucking Christ.
Xander Berkeley is saying on Twitter that Bill Paxton has died.
Did you get to Griffin Newman's episode yet, baybeeeeeeee?
I feel like Denzel really hasn't had much momentum since the SAG win. Like, aside from it being Denzel who everybody loves, I haven't heard much "we gotta recognize this great performance" talk. I'm leaning Affleck because of this, but I also really want him to win.
With 26 hours to showtime, the Oscars have rescinded the nomination for one of 13 Hours' sound mixers
Actually, what I'm pretty sure the public wants is for the La La Land producers to go full Ving Rhames and straight-up hand their Oscar to Mike Mills.
Oh, I'm not knocking her in Godfather II or even saying that she wouldn't deserve the Oscar for it.
I think they should expand the number of nominees until 20th Century Women is one of them. Every single year.
Do you also call it the Academy Awards, because Oscars is a nickname, and nicknames are for friends, and the Academy Awards is no friend of yours?
I'm going to say no on that one. Hell, I think she deserved an Oscar more for Love and Death than she would deserve one for Godfather II.
Also, I would not only not have it lose, I would actually give it two other nominations, for Cinematography and Editing.
The way you worded it made it sound like it should have won literally no awards.
Counterpoint: You are suggesting taking away Diane Keaton's Oscar.
And in a juster world, Manchester would win Picture and Jenkins Director. And Andre Holland would actually be nominated.
We just finished trivia, with a nice mixture of CZ denizens, Dissolve guys, and, however short-lived, AVCAD people. It was great fun, even if one team started ahead and only further dominated the proceedings from there. The answers, teams, and points are below.
I saw that in the comments of the show review. Gotta love these quality easter-egg goofs.
