I don't know those Islands myself. Yes usually when cannibalism occurs its ritualistic or religious/spiritual. Perhaps sacrificial. I am not sure if that rings true for those particular Islands?

The flashbacks other than the juxtaposition of Rick ripping the guys throat out with his teeth was Hershel talking about his watch, Maggie in the riot gear etc visual ques so we and Rick realise at the same time as Rick (if you hadn't before) that these dudes were bad news.

Maggie was also in the riot gear when she came back. Despite it being a bit annoying there was the whole "goodbye farmer Rick" and visual information as to why Rick would work out faster than Columbo that those dudes were dodgy.

In fairness to Albert it seems pretty big for him to be keeping an eye on all on his own. Poor Albert the bully victim taking all the flack.

No you say season because you are weird. But it is something I have picked up as season is one years run and series is the whole show. I can't refer to a series as a show as a Brit. It would make me sound like an arse hole. Season I can just about get away with.

To quote Shaun of the dead " because it's ridiculous!"

Perhaps like someone above said they were a cult beforehand. They have been stockpiling for a while then eek Zombies.

Yeah after the pause went so long I didn't want him to say something because it was pretty much said in silence but then he said that line. I wanted something more baddass.

He's British it's hard for him.

If you are talking about Easter Island or such places there is no actual evidence that cannibalism ever occurred for those reasons. In fact no evidence it ever occurred at all. It was an idea that became popular without it actually happening. Like the guy above said there have actually been very few instances when

But their is reference to a ritualistic nature (the candles and the writing on the walls in that room). Cannibilism in a ritualistic or religious way has been noted in many societies. I think the creators have acknowledged this and we will see more of that in the season 5.

Perhaps it's population control through cannibalism. More people means less food for everyone. They have only so much space to grow things and so many mouths to feed. Cannibalism can give extra protein as well as new people coming in gives you more supplies of weapons etc.
Sure t doesn't seem the most logical or at
