I think people are reading far too much into these statements. He has said in the past that he knows how it will end, and i'm almost sure that within the last year he has stated on the comic letter pages that it isn't anywhere close to being done, and implicating it could go on for another 100-150 issues.

I tend to enjoy some movies many would consider awful (Weekend at Bernie's, Weekend at Bernie's 2 - the horror!!, Chris Elliot's Cabin Boy, even Super Mario Bros). Hell i think i may have seen some or all of those twice in the theater even.
