I'm pretty sure that is untrue. I've seen Japanese fans grieve over the deaths of manga artists, voice actors and j-rock musicians and I don't see how this is any different. He was certainly not a stranger to Nintendo fans thanks to the Direct videos and other events. Fans will be sad and people who don't know him…
