But that's an unfair assessment. I don't think there are any "lines of smoke" attributed to Affleck outside of this lawsuit (I could certainly be wrong). It doesn't seem like the guy has a long history of being a douche in this fashion.

He was never accused of sexual assault.

How?

And we don't know the amount of the settlement; I'm not sure which jurisdictions you speak of, but where I am, costs are only awarded upon a judicial decision. If a case is settled, there is no allotment of costs; that's often the reason plaintiffs settle against a better-resourced defendant.

Hating on Hot Topic takes all the creativity of hating on Trump. Raise your game, AV Club.

Congratulations for contributing to the problem.

Is one of them her weight? Because Taft managed to get elected…and Teddy wasn't exactly trim. Why are you fat-shaming!?!?

I don't really understand why settling equals guilt.

Manning does own a number of franchises….

Depending on the nature of the contract in question, the right to sue actually can't be waived. In this case it seems that there is a requirement of arbitration before a claim goes before the courts, which actually isn't all that unreasonable (in an ideal world, arbitration or mediation saves everyone involved time

I agree with you, largely. In an earlier comment I think I clarified that RDJ's take on Tony amps up the charisma that the character has in a manic/comic fashion; Stewart's Professor X is pretty much exactly what one might imagine reading the comics.

I'll give you that Comics Tony wasn't as quippy and overt about his arrogance, but I've always interpreted him as the guy who is the smartest in the room (unless Reed Richards happens to be around) and is very secure in that knowledge. He thinks/knows he's better than his peers, and that always came across for me on

I'm not sure what you mean…are you saying nobody knew who Professor X was so Stewart can play him how he wanted? Or did you mean "was" rather than "wasn't"?

Maybe (MAYBE) RDJ as Tony Stark…

Don't forget Seth Myers!

Has anyone heard the latest Doug Loves Movies episode with Anne Heche and Onur Tukel? Pretty cringe-worthy…

I'm pretty sure he has some deal about only having 420 followers or he only follows 420 people or something like that…maybe that has something to do with it?

Except the whole thing was started by a white guy…

Don't forget Fargo!

Comedy and horror are very much two sides of the same coin — they're both about building tension and ultimately providing release, it's just that one's in the form of a punchline and the other is in the form of a scare. Also, both are at their best when the payoff is something that subverts the expectations the setup
