Unfortunately this isn't a one-time occurrence…

Totally with you, I soured on WHM a while back thanks to the Flop House. I've said it on Podmass before, but everything WHM does well, Dan, Stu, and Elliott do much, much better.

I'm presuming you're talking about the Original Peaches…

Rogue One is specifically or the idea of 'offshoot/standalone' films? As much doubt as Underworld might have around it, one would think (hope) that Disney's noticed what Marvel's been able to do with Netflix and consider following suit…

No thanks; not only is that philosophically ridiculous and counter-productive, I'm not even close to the only one who doesn't think Vader is funny. I'll be happy to see zero of your useless, inane posts in the future. Unless you decide to actually engage beyond more 'you're a crazy retard' bullshit. Asshat.

Yeah, I was thinking about that since you mentioned it, and I don't think people give Prowse nearly enough credit for what he accomplished. Not to hate on James Earl Jones by any stretch, but it would have been a very different character had he been the one in the suit…

Not long after I posted that I stumbled upon this video that I think gives an interesting/reasonable explanation (it doesn't, however, really get into the differing interpretations of the character between Lucas and Foster)

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from (that's why I picked the mob boss example, it's kind of innocuous how it's approached but with very contradictory intention). It's too bad Prowse and Lucas et al. ended up with so much vitriol between them.

Oh I've seen that scene plenty of times (I can recite it from memory!) ;)

Jeez, you're really working hard at avoiding this (because you don't want to admit you're wrong). I already said I might have missed something, so take ten seconds and cite something.

You haven't quoted anything. One person brought up Captain Needa, a point which I concede, because that shit was genuinely funny and clearly intended to be a joke. I don't think the "I find your lack of faith disturbing" line is intended to be a joke, which I've pointed out. Perhaps it can be construed as darkly

Hold fast hope, my friend

Fair points…I guess I could argue that Leia is intentionally trying to get under Vader's skin because that's how she rolls (which I do think is supported by the text of the film/her character); conjecturing more on this one, but I think it's at least suggested that the role of the (recently disbanded) Senate gives

Who's everyone else???? Dude, all you've brought to the table is "it's in the comics" and that's garbage.

I didn't find that sassy at all…I don't think it's intended to be read as an offhand remark in any way; it's him very directly threatening this dude's life over his belief system, something one might expect from the second-in-command of a fascist empire. I wasn't around in '77 so I don't know how the original

You've yet to prove me wrong on that, outside of one example another user offered…so please correct me using the actual films and not ancillary material.

So…what makes a film "novelistic"?

Apparently I DO need to read it, because Vader 'throwing shade' sucked ass. He's done it well in the films once that I can recall, leading me to believe the people writing it don't really understand the character as well as you think they do.
